King County is inviting everyone to its Big Backyard – Marymoor Park – on June 1 for a 5K run.
The event begins at 9 a.m. and will take runners through the part at the northern end of Lake Sammamish. The course follows the Marymoor Connector Trail and a portion of the East Lake Sammamish Trail. Strollers and leashed dogs are welcome.
A free kids’ dash featuring King County’s environmental mascot Bert the Salmon follows the fun run at 10 a.m. The awards ceremony will be at 10:15 a.m.
Those who register in March pay $30 and get an event T-shirt, plus food, drinks and more on race day. Registration can be made online at www.bby5k.com.
The registration fee goes up by $5 each month until race day, when it is $40..
Those who break the course record (16:18 for men, 20:15 for women), will win $100.
