David Doud of Bellevue announced this past weekend that he will seek the second open seat likely up for election this fall, (Position 3).
“The Port needs to leverage its assets – to look for the highest and best uses of all its properties, to develop markets creatively and manage its resources for the best return – which is what I do every day. It cannot return to the failed policies and practices of its past,” stated Doud.
Doud, the first candidate to announce his candidacy for the Port of Seattle seat being vacated by Lloyd Hara, is also likely to be the only non-Seattle Port candidate. All of the current Port Commissioners and those planning to run for this year’s Port commission seat, live in Seattle.
“It is important that the commission reflect all of the regions of King County and not just one demographic area” said Doud who lives and works on the Eastside. He said, “All of us King County taxpayers help pay for the Port of Seattle, yet the Port has no one outside Seattle to help build area-wide support for its economic profile.”
