Bellevue Police detectives arrested a Bellevue man on Wednesday, July 29 who had recently been released from prison and was linked to close to a dozen burglaries by three small blood droplets found at one crime scene.
Officers responding to a burglary at a residence on the 6200 block of 129th Avenue SE in Bellevue on April 13 found the blood droplets on the floor of the victim’s residence.
DNA testing identified the suspect as a man who had been recently released from prison after serving time for committing burglaries in Bellevue in 2013. He later confessed to the April 13 incident and an additional 10 burglaries.
“This arrest would not have been possible without the teamwork of all those involved, from the patrol officers that responded to the initial burglary, the lab technicians at the WSP crime lab, our crime analyst, and the detectives assigned to this case, and it is because of their hard work that a prolific burglar is now behind bars,” said Major Pat Spak with the Bellevue Police Department.
The April 13 burglary is one of 15 crimes committed within a two month period and a one mile radius of the address which the suspect had been staying. Dr. Shawna Gibson, the Crime Analyst for the Bellevue Police Department, helped link the suspect to the crimes, which included six other burglaries.
He has not been charged yet at this time because he is facing penalties for violating his parole. He will not be charged until that is resolved, which Bellevue Police spokesman Seth Tyler said will likely be a few weeks time.
