Woodland Park Zoo is offering shuttle services to and from the Eastside for the second year in a row this summer. Now until Sept. 2, shuttles will leave from Crossroads Mall in Bellevue and Woodland Park Zoo every 45 minutes from 9:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
The non-profit shuttle service began in June 2011 in an effort to provide a green, cost-saving way for Eastsiders to connect with zoo amenities. Shuttles are operated by Standard Parking and carry 23-25 passengers. Storage for strollers, car seats, seat belts and DVD systems are provided.
“Last year was our pilot program and it was a huge success in our eyes,” said Woodland Park Zoo spokeswoman Jennifer Larson. And “we’re on track to probably match what we did last year.”
Tickets for the shuttle are purchased before guests leave the zoo at ZooStore South. To ride the shuttle, guests ages 13 and over pay $2. Children ages 12 and under ride free. Reservations are not required.
