A Bellevue couple was able to make it out of their house safely Tuesday morning after noticing smoke come out of their heat registers. A fire that started below them in their garage eventually broke a window and was burning up the side of the house when the first fire crews arrived.
The house fire in the Enatai area of southwest Bellevue started around 7:30 a.m. Fire investigators report that the cause was most likely a fan device used to dry off a wet car while it was parked in the garage. However, the exact circumstances that led to the fire are not certain due to the extensive damage.
Neither the residents nor firefighters had any injuries to report from the fire. The damage is estimated at $250,000, including both a car and boat destroyed by the fire.
