Local optometric physicians, Dr. Chris Barry and Dr. William Prothero will participate in the World Sight Day Challenge on Thursday, Oct., 8 by donating their eye examination fees to help some of the estimated 670 million men, women and children globally who are blind or vision impaired simply because they do not have access to an eye exam and a pair of glasses.
In many developing countries there are not enough trained eye care personnel and there is insufficient infrastructure to support these needed eye care services. Optometry Giving Sight, the organizer of the World Sight Day Challenge, funds the solution by supporting programs that offer not only eye exams and glasses, but also establish vision centers and train local eye care professionals in communities with little or no access to vision care services.
Drs. Barry and Prothero will match donations made by patients at Overlake EyeCare during October. Optometry Giving Sight guarantees that 85 percent of all funds raised by optometrists and their patients go directly to programs that give sight to those most in need.
Overlake EyeCare is located at 1837 156th Ave NE. Call 425-643-2020 to schedule an appointment.
