Fly fishing class set in Woodinville

Alaska Guide and outfitter Dick Lange will teach an introduction to fly fishing class for the city of Woodinville Parks and Recreation. The class – Fly Fishing 101 – will be an nine-week course, held every Thursday evening at 6:30, starting on July 1.

The class will introduce students to entomology, habitat, knots, casting techniques, basic fly tying and stream reading. When done, the student will know the basics of fly casting, stream reading, and will know when, where, and why to fish, and which fly patterns would work best.

All classes will be held at the Carol Edwards Center (17401 133rd Ave NE, Woodinville), except for the Fly Casting Lesson and the morning on the stream field trips. These two classes will be held at the river – one to learn fly casting, and the other to actually practice what has been learned and catch a trout. Field trip dates will be decided by weather.

Cost is $39 (for Woodinville Residents) or $44.85 (for non-residents). There is an additional fee of $15 for the course manual payable to instructor the first day of class.
