Last year, Bellevue College’s foundation luncheon raised nearly $250,000 to go toward academic and need-based scholarships and educational opportunities for all of its students. This year, BC will lean on former Seattle Seahawk Mack Strong to best the fundraiser total.
The 16th annual “Become Exceptional” luncheon kicks off at 11:30 a.m. April 14 at the Meydenbauer Center and runs through 1:30 p.m.
Feature speakers for the event include Tim Jones, chair of BC’s political science, international studies and interdisciplinary studies programs, and Sara Gardner, program director for the college’s autism spectrum navigators program.
Jones said he plans to share his experience bringing BC students on a bi-annual Civil Rights pilgrimage through Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee, which provides a hands-on opportunity to witness some of most influential, historical sites, which led to the movement.
Gardner, the driving force behind the creation of the autism spectrum navigators and its expansion to Central Washington University, said her speech will focus on the effect the program has had for students and why it’s pivotal to continue and grow.
Reservations for the event can be made by calling 425-564-2945, via email at foundation@bellevuecollege.edu or online at www.bellevuecollege.edu/foundation/invite/rsvp.
Guests are encouraged to make a donation of $200 or more.
