Jim Girardot, a 20-year as a resident of Medina, has filed to run for the Medina City Council. He is challenging John Maffei for Position 3.

The race won’t be on the Primary ballot as both candidates automatically advance to the General election.

Girardot wants to re-establish the friendliness and the image of Medina that initially attracted his family to the city, he said in a statement. Also, he said he would begin by working for more open and two-way communications between the residents and the council.

If elected, Girardot said his independence, assertive, communicative nature and willingness to research and push for answers relating to complex issues will be an asset to Medina residents.

In 1990, Girardot founded and remains president of Appraisal One, Inc., a residential appraisal company servicing major lenders, private clients and attorneys.

He is an alumnus of Oakland University and has served on the University’s alumni association. Girardot also has served on the board of a chamber of commerce, as chairman of a hospital planning commission, as president of a Realtor board and Vice President of a state Realtor association.

He and his wife have two children and the couple is involved in Golden Retriever and senior dog rescue.
