The rain held off to the end of a long day of golfing at the 2009 Overlake Service League Drive For Dreams Golf Tournament and Awards Dinner on May 18. The raise the paddle portion of the evening raised more than $15,000 and overall, the evening brought in more than $115,000.
Hundreds of Overlake Service League supporters hit the green at The Golf Club at Newcastle to participate in a four person scramble golf competition alongside Seattle Seahawks Sean Locklear and TJ Duckett. The day wound down with a silent auction and cocktail hour, followed by a live auction, dinner, and dessert. Sponsors for the event included The Bellevue Collection, Microsoft, and Intelius.
The evening raised money to benefit Overlake Service League’s mission to help struggling families and at-risk school children in Bellevue. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization has served Bellevue-area kids and families since 1911.
All proceeds from the 2009 Drive for Dreams went towards supporting the Focus on Youth programs which provide kids with back to school clothing, nutritious food for school breaks, tutoring and summer school, summer activities, sports and lessons.
