Eastside Legal Assistance Program (ELAP) will use a $5,000 grant to support ELAP’s legal aid work to low-income survivors of domestic violence.
The grant was received from the Eastside Community Aid Thrift Shop to recruit and train additional volunteers to meet the rising demands for legal assistance in King County.
In 2009, ELAP served over 1,200 low-income clients in need of legal
services.
The grant will help provide 50 domestic violence survivors with
legal resources to obtain the legal aid they need, including protection orders, according to ELAP staff.
