Eastside Legal Assistance Program (ELAP) will celebrate 20 years of providing legal aid to the Eastside at its annual luncheon on Friday May 15. The event, at the Harbor Club, also will honor the organization’s many volunteers.
ELAP provides free legal aid to low-income Eastside residents through approximately 100 volunteer attorneys.
The luncheon will feature keynote speaker, Harry Schneider, Partner at Perkins Coie. Schneider represented Salim Ahmed Hamdan, a prisoner at Guantanamo that led tot the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision stating that the former President Bush could not ignore the Geneva Conventions.
The luncheon is co-sponsored by the East King County Bar Association.
Tickets to the luncheon are $30 by May 11 and $40 after, or at the door. RSVP to EKCBA at 425.637.3097 or ekcba@ekcba.org.
