Fruit Picker Pole. This tool, a metal basket with prongs on one side affixed to an eight-foot wooden pole, is used to pick apples and other fruits from the tops of trees. Standing on the ground, the farmer puts the basket around the apple and uses the prongs to pull it from the tree. This basket can hold four or five apples. Fruit picker poles still are used today.
