Like much of Bellevue, the modern Vuecrest neighborhood was once farmland. The earlier aerial, taken in 1930, shows the Patrick Downey Farm. Downey came to Bellevue and homesteaded in 1882. He and his wife, Victoria Maria, had 13 children. In both images, Northeast Eighth Street can be seen at the bottom of the picture and 92nd Avenue Northeast on the left side.
Heritage Corner is a feature in the Bellevue Reporter. To learn more about Bellevue and Eastside history contact the Eastside Heritage Center at 425-450-1049 or visit EastsideHeritageCenter.org.
