Hopelink turning to social media for help those in need

Hopelink, is turning to the power of social media to reach out to the community this holiday season with a new program called “Twelve Days of Giving.”

The agency, which serves the needy in east and north King County, is asking all of its Facebook, Twitter and E-News followers send an email to their friends, family and contacts to ask for a small donation of $12 to support Hopelink and the Twelve Days of Giving campaign, December 1 through 12.

If just 12 Hopelink supporters reach out to 12 others to make a $12 donation, Hopelink programs will be $1,728 stronger, agency officials say. Repeated daily over the 12 days of the campaign, Hopelink could realize more than $20,000 to support its many programs.

With need up and overall donations down, officials say this would significantly increase the agency’s ability to provide help during, and after, the holidays for even more families.
