The Seahawks brought home a Super Bowl title for Seattle, but Chef John Howie also has a win to share with the city.

For a consecutive year, he has raised the most money in the country during the Taste of the NFL’s Kick Hunger Challenge, a total of $83,226.10. Winning the challenge as the Seahawks representative, an additional $10,000 is provided to the local community by the Taste of the NFL.

All proceeds from the Kick Hunger Challenge are distributed through Seattle Food Lifeline, where $1 provides four nutritious meals to someone in need.

“I’m so proud of Seattle and the 12th man,” said Howie, who owns Seastar Restaurant and Raw Bar and John Howie Steak, both in Bellevue. “Winning the Kick Hunger Challenge for the second year in a row is an amazing feat, and it just goes to show how philanthropic this city is.”
