Joe Toles to receive Eagle Scout Award

Joe Toles, of Troop 638 in Bellevue, has earned the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts, the Eagle Scout award.

Joe Toles, of Troop 638 in Bellevue, has earned the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts, the Eagle Scout award.

Joe has served as Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Historian, Troop Guide, and Senior Patrol Leader. A member of the Order of the Arrow, he has also helped staff camps. He graduated from Newport High School this year, and will enter the University of Washington this fall.

An Eagle Scout candidate must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a service project that benefits a community, religious institution, or school. Joe’s Eagle Project benefited Stevenson Elementary School as he and a team of volunteers completely overhauled the emergency supplies on hand at the school in case of emergency.

Joe will be recognized at an Eagle Court of Honor at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 7 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 14230 SE Newport Way in Bellevue.
