A Lake Hills family escaped uninjured from an early morning fire Wednesday that destroyed their home on the 600 block of 155th Avenue Southeast.
The Bellevue Fire Department states crews responded to the home around 1:30 a.m. after a 9-1-1 report from a neighbor who saw the home engulfed in flames. Firefighters tackled and extinguished the fire in 30 minutes, but the home is being considered a total loss. The American Red Cross is assisting the family with temporary housing and support. Three family dogs were also found safe.
A house to the south sustained minor exterior damage. The source and cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Bellevue was assisted by Mercer Island and Redmond firefighters, and Bellevue Police provided traffic control. The fire department states homeowners reported their smoke detectors did not go off during the fire, and cautions residents to test theirs.
