Letter carriers will be doing more than delivering the mail Saturday, May 9. They’ll also be collecting food in the nation’s largest one-day food drive to combat hunger.
The “Stamp Out Hunger” drive will collect non-perishable donations from homes throughout King County.
This year’s goal in Washington is to collect more than three quarters of a million pounds of food beating last year’s total of 740,000 pounds of food collected in one day. The new goal is the equivalent of more than 600,000 meals.
Those wishing to donate should place a bag of food at their mailbox prior to their mail delivery time.
