Two people suffered burn injuries Monday night after a boat caught fire in a Bellevue marina.
According to the Bellevue Fire Department, the owner of the boat, docked at Newport Shores Marina, pushed the burning vessel off a dock and swam away with it to prevent the fire from spreading to other boats in the marina.
The 42-foot boat was pulled 75 feet from the dock before Mercer Island and Seattle fire boats responded to the situation.
The cause of the fire, which began at approximately 10:20 p.m., is unknown, according to the Fire Department. The owner’s attempts were successful, and no other boats caught fire. In his attempt to save the boat he suffered burns and he to be taken to a hospital. Another individual on the dock received minor burns.
