Firefighters responded at 6:55 p.m. to reports of heavy black smoke coming from the rear of a large building in the 1200 block of the Bel-Red Road. The first units arrived on the scene within four minutes and discovered smoke coming from the building’s north side. The fire was designated under control about six minutes after that.

A total of 24 firefighters responded to the fire. No one was hurt; damage was estimated at $6,000.

Initial crews attacked the fire in the mechanical room, while additional firefighters checked the roof to see if the fire had spread.
