Alex Morcos has announced his candidacy for re-election to the Medina City Council.
He is currently the mayor of Medina and has served on the council since 2014.
Morcos also served on the Medina Planning Commission before joining council. He moved to the Eastside from France in 1991 to join the Microsoft International team. He was born in Syria, grew up in Lebanon, attended college in France and is fluent in three languages.
Morcos later retired from Microsoft and started a commercial real estate business on the Eastside. He and his family moved to Medina 16 years ago. His wife, Nayla, is a graphic designer. Their son, Najib, graduated from University of Washington in 2006 and works for T-Mobile in the Factoria headquarters. Morcos said he enjoys serving the citizens of Medina. He listens and works tirelessly on finding solutions to challenges affecting the community.
“During the last decade, as a resident of Medina, member of the Planning Commission and the City Council, I have enjoyed every minute of my civic engagement,” he wrote in a release. “It has been a pleasure to meet incredible neighbors who are true leaders with diverse talents dedicated to their city and community.”
