Heija Nunn is familiar with the secret lives of moms.
The Medina mother of three kids juggles the daily trials and triumphs of motherhood all while wearing her Super-Mom cape. Delightfully branding herself, the worst mother in the world, Nunn made a guest appearance on The Oprah Show to discuss the humor that is motherhood.
Nunn joined a small group of mommy bloggers from around the country and actress Cheryl Hines from the new sitcom on ABC, In the Motherhood, to break the silence about mommy business- the good, the bad and everything in between. Nunn wrote into the Oprah show several months prior to add her own dose of mommy humor and tips for surviving the unknown.
“Lice!” she exclaimed. “Nobody ever talks about it, but it’s real and it’s horrendous. With three kids, I’m now a lice expert,” she joked.
Nunn was broadcast on a live taping of the show via Skype, real-time video call technology that allows people to connect for free from all across the globe. Large screens framed the entire stage of The Oprah Show, allowing Oprah to interact with each guests and Hines, who appeared live and in person on the show.
“I don’t even remember what exactly I talked about,” said Nunn. “I’m sure I shared some mommy secrets and embarrassing mis-steps I’ve had, but that’s part of the learning process. Every mother feels like she’s the worst mother from time to time. I share the title with every mom, even Angelina Jolie.”
Since appearing on the show, Nunn has been selected to blog about motherhood on Oprah.com. She is also in the midst of creating her own Web site to share her experiences, tips and hilarious outtakes while raising three growing kids.
“With in the first ten minutes of motherhood your confidence will be shot and you’ll start to feel like everything you do is wrong,” Nunn explained. “I say you should laugh off the mistakes and misjudgment and not take everything so seriously. The humor of motherhood is half the fun.”
