Medina to hold shredder day

Medina will hold a shredder day and drug "take-back" day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 14 at Medina Park.

The document shredding is sponsored by the Medina Police Department’s Crime Prevention Program.

Police investigated more than 70 cases of identity theft since 2008, and officials say it continues to be a problem.

Data Base Records Destruction Service will bring a truck to the park to participants can witness their documents being shredded on site.

In addition, the police department, along with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) will participate in the drug take-back program.

People are asked to remove and identifying information from the prescription label. No injectables, syringes or medical waste will be accepted.

The event will provide residents with free, anonymous collection of unwanted or expired medicines.
