What is the most pressing issue in Bellevue, and how would you deal with it?

Getting the capital budget back on track. Bellevue’s growth depends on wise infrastructure investments. I will continue my fiscally prudent approach to budgeting and financial management by prioritizing spending on safety, neighborhoods, and transportation while deferring projects such as Bel-Red Corridor that depend on economic recovery. I am working to make Bellevue the IT capital of the world in continuing to create jobs and deliver excellent services while keeping taxes low. To get through current economic downturn, we must exercise fiscal discipline and spending priority, not increasing taxes to dash business recovery.

What makes you the better choice for the council than your opponent?

I have done it and done it well! I have been the fiscal watchdog and neighborhood advocate. Although most of the council votes are unanimous, I am proud to be the voice of the people when dissension makes better policy. My fiscally responsible policies have paid dividends as Bellevue has a vibrant business community, quality neighborhoods and is safe. I will be the steady hand on the wheel to continue delivering excellent services, keeping taxes low and promoting a world-class business environment. Although making many claims, my opponent has neither proven her claims nor demonstrated her experience for the job.
