Duvall Community Van is a pilot project that will allow residents to share a ride around town, whether it’s to the grocery store or a special local event. The service debuts April 23.

Community Van is an alternative service Metro is piloting, to give residents customized options for getting around when fixed route bus service doesn’t meet their needs.

Metro is supplying two vans for the program. Drivers and riders can contact the city’s transportation coordinator or go online to find a pre-scheduled trip to share a ride to local destinations or see requested trips that have been posted by others. Riders can also suggest designations. Trips must have at least two passengers in addition to the volunteer driver. Each rider will pay a one-zone Metro fare; the driver travels free.

The program is recruiting both drivers and riders. Visit the rideshare website, http://metro.kingcounty.gov/tops/van-car/programs/community-van, to sign up as a driver or rider.
