Bellevue residents can give their feedback on design proposals for the new Meydenbauer Bay Park at a meeting today.

The meeting will be from 5-8 p.m. in Room 1E-108/113, Bellevue City Hall, 450 110th Ave. N.E.

The workshop will give the public a first look at conceptual design alternatives for the Meydenbauer Bay Park master plan.

Comments from the public will be part of the discussion at the Meydenbauer Bay Steering Committee meeting Thursday, July 31.

The park will be designed by EDAW, a landscape architecture and environmental planning firm with an office in Seattle. The park will offer residents and tourists access to Meydenbauer Bay, adjacent to Lake Washington.

The meeting will give people the chance to learn about the science and ideology that support the various design and discuss, compare and evaluate them, said David Blau, Principal in Charge, with EDAW.

The city owns almost a quarter-mile of shoreline on Meydenbauer Bay. This property will be used for park development and creation of a pedestrian connection to downtown and Old Bellevue. Since the early 1990s, the city has been acquiring property along Meydenbauer Bay.

Meydenbauer Beach Park is on the west end of what will become the new park, and the Bayvue Village Apartments are on the east end. In between is the Bellevue Marina, including two buildings that housed the American Pacific Whaling Company, and several occupied residences.
