The State Patrol is putting extra troopers on the road through tonight, focusing on DUI, speed, seatbelts, aggressive driving and criminal violations.
“We know this time of year many people get together to celebrate Independence Day,” said Washington State Patrol Chief John R. Batiste. “Unfortunately, people under the influence of drugs and alcohol will head out onto our highways.”
Troopers remind motorists that, if they have had any alcohol to drink, they should use designated drivers, taxis and other alternatives in order to get home safely.
Anyone who witnesses an impaired or dangerous driver is asked to call 9-1-1 .
