A candidate rating information session will be held at 6 p.m. May 6 by the Municipal League. The session will be at Purple Wine Bar, 430 106th Ave. NE, in Downtown Bellevue.
Over one hundred candidates for public office will be investigated, evaluated and rated by the Municipal League’s nonpartisan Candidate Evaluation Committees this election season. Volunteer candidate investigators are being recruited through May at informational events held throughout King County.
Following training, candidate investigators will review candidate questionnaires, check candidate references, and conduct live interviews with the candidates. They will rate candidates based on four criteria — Knowledge, Involvement, Effectiveness and Character — and assess each candidate’s potential to serve their community. The ratings are non-partisan and the ratings are not based on a candidates political affiliations or policy positions.
Volunteers in the rating process are required to refrain from active involvement in campaigns or political parties during the election season and must step aside from the ratings process whenever they have connections to any candidate in any particular race.
Ratings will be released on July 19.
