Mandy Schendel, 22, of Newcastle was crowned as Miss Washington on July 7. She will compete in Las Vegas for the She’ll be off to Vegas in January to compete in the Miss America pageant.
She was Miss Eastside in the Washington pageant.
Twenty two girls from across the state competed in swimsuits, evening
gowns, interviews and had the chance to share their talents. Schendel’s
singing performance, along with her poise and beauty contributed to her
win. She also was awarded the best interview and evening gown
competition.
An additional scholarship of $1,000 was given to her by the Miss America organization for her community service.
Her platform is “Do Something: Enriching Youth, Cultivating Leaders.” She has also authored a book on the same subject.
She is a senior at Azuza College.
