The swimming area at Newcastle Beach Park will be closed on Wednesday, July 25, as a precaution while private property owners apply herbicide on neighboring properties to control invasive milfoil blooms.

The swimming area at the park, located at 4400 Lake Washington Blvd. SE, will be off-limits for 24 hours, 7 a.m. Wednesday to 7 a.m. Thursday. Signs will be posted on-site regarding the swimming area closure. The rest of the park will remain open.

The state Department of Ecology has details about milfoil control. Aquatechnex LLC received a permit from Ecology to perform the milfoil treatment.
