Newport High students to co-host wheelchair basketball game

Students from Newport High School and Mercer Island High School will partner with Seattle Adaptive Sports to hold a wheelchair basketball game between teams consisting of students and staff from Mercer Island and Newport High Schools vs. the Junior Sonics basketball team.

 

Students from Newport High School and Mercer Island High School will partner with Seattle Adaptive Sports to hold a wheelchair basketball game between teams consisting of students and staff from Mercer Island and Newport High Schools vs. the Junior Sonics basketball team.

There also will be a silent auction before and during the game as well as a raffle to fundraise for college scholarships for wheelchair basketball players.

All proceeds go to Seattle Adaptive Sports player scholarships. This event promotes Paralympic awareness, and US Paralympic Ski Team champion Jim Martinson will speak at halftime.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. April 20 at Mercer Island High School, 9100 S.E. 42nd St.
