The HOV lane and one general purpose (GP) lane on westbound I-90 on Mercer Island will close Monday and Tuesday nights this week. At N. Mercer Way (milepost 8), the HOV Lane will close both evenings at 7 p.m., and the GP lane will close at 9 p.m. Both lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.

Crews will install conduit under the roadway to house cables for lighting and intelligent transportation systems (ITS). The work is part of the I-90 Two-Way Transit and HOV Operations Stage 2 project.

The project will improve eastbound I-90 from Mercer Island to Bellevue with a new HOV lane, on-ramp enhancements and pavement preservation. Stage 2 construction is scheduled to be complete in 2012
