Drivers should take alternate routes or allow extra time Saturday night when traveling through Bellevue. Crews will close four of five northbound Interstate 405 lanes and several downtown ramps overnight. Unless it rains heavily, crews will funnel traffic to one lane by 11:30 p.m. Lanes will reopen by 8 a.m. Sunday morning.
During the closure, crews will restripe northbound I-405 to create a work zone in the center of the freeway. The work zone is needed so crews can complete construction on the NE 12th Street Bridge.
After the closure, drivers headed to northbound I-405 from Northeast Eighth Street in Bellevue should expect a change. The on-ramp from Northeast Eighth Street will take vehicles between two sets of columns supporting a new ramp at Northeast 10th Street before joining northbound I-405.
The work is part of the $107.5 million Bellevue Braids Project, that reshapes I-405 between Northeast Eighth Street and State Route 520 and relieves congestion at one of the busiest interchanges in the state.
Bellevue Bridge Closure
Tonight at 7 p.m. crews will close the Northeast 12th Street Bridge over I-405 to evaluate repairs to the structure. The bridge was damaged when the old adjacent bridge was demolished in April. The bridge will re-open by Monday, July 18 at 5 a.m.
