Noted hand surgery specialist Thomas Trumble, MD, has joined the medical staff at Overlake Hospital Medical Center.

For the past 20 years, Dr. Trumble has served as the chief of hand surgery service and director of fellowship training at the University of Washington. He is a widely published expert on hand surgery, having authored more than 100 articles and chapters and edited five textbooks on the subject.

In 2010, Trumble began a full-time Eastside practice at Bellevue Bone and Joint Physicians and will focus his surgical practice at Overlake. He will offer subspecialty care for hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder disorders and injuries. Trumble’s surgical interests include:

The treatment of arthritis of the hand, wrist and elbow using advanced techniques of joint replacement and arthroscopy.

The treatment of sports injuries of the upper extremity with new techniques for minimally invasive surgery.

The treatment of nerve disorders with techniques such as endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery.

The treatment of complex fractures of the hand, wrist and elbow with a role in developing new fracture devices to better treat patients.

Trumble earned his medical degree at Yale University School of Medicine and continued his orthopaedic residency at Yale New Haven Hospital. After his residency training, he completed a Hand and Microsurgery Fellowship at Duke University in 1984 followed by a Hand and Reconstructive Fellowship at Harvard University at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He taught at Yale University for four years as an assistant professor before joining the University of Washington.
