A fire Sunday night damaged a Bellevue home in the Wilburton neighborhood. No one was home at the time of the fire, but neighbors reported the blaze at about 11:45 p.m. after hearing popping sounds and seeing flames. The fire occurred in the 12800 block of Southeast Second Street.

Here we see two views of the same intersection, one in 1959 and one in 2007. The maples seen in the earlier image were planted in the early 1900s. When the street was widened in the 1960s city planners had to remove them, but new trees were planted in their stead.

Alex Ballinger of Bellevue is one of 20 high school seniors named as a finalist in the Ignatian Leaders Scholarship at Gonzaga University for the 2008-2009 academic year.
Tess McMillan, of Bellevue, has received a Washington Award for Vocational Excellence (WAVE) scholarship from the state Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board. McMillan is a student at Bellevue Community College studying .NET Programming and Web Development.
