Patty Luzzi is coming home.
The popular writer of the Family Life column in the former King County Journal will begin a new column in the Bellevue Reporter on Saturday, Nov. 8. Luzzi’s column will appear twice a month in the Bellevue Reporter.
A native of Butte, Mont., Luzzi has a degree in Communications from Montana State University in Bozeman. She and her husband, Lenny, have lived on the Eastside for 31 years, have two sons, an old beagle named Happy, and until recently, a boa constrictor named Sugar, who finally has a new home in an undisclosed location.
Lenny, a second-generation San Francisco Italian, is a graphic artist for an engineering firm in Bellevue, and plays the accordion professionally. Their son John, 25, is a musician who plays the guitar and keyboards in a local band. Younger son, Joe, 23, works for a local boat company, and is a voracious reader. Both sons have lived at home off and on, and off, and on …, Luzzi adds.
As the middle of five siblings in an Irish Catholic family, and having married into an Italian family, Luzzi has a lifetime of stories to tell. Since her kids were raised on the Eastside, she has a love for the area that is woven throughout her writing. Even in winter when the power has been out for days, she knows that there is no better place to live.
When mom died, Luzzi inherited the family. She loves to cook, and her table is often surrounded by family, friends, and neighbors. These events provide some of the material for her column.
You’re all invited to come along and take a seat at The Big Table.
