The Bellevue Police Department announced today it anticipates completion next month of an internal investigation into a former officer alleged to have been drunk driving in November and the coworker who let him off the hook.
Andrew Hanke was charged in Issaquah Municipal Court with DUI in early December after a fellow Bellevue officer pulled him over for speeding and swerving on I-90 on Nov. 20 and let his wife pick him up rather than arrest his 38-year-old coworker. Hanke resigned from the department in early January after several months on paid administrative leave.
The department issued a release today that an internal investigation into Hanke and Doug Brennan, the officer who initiated the stop on Nov. 20, had been expected to be completed by the end of the month but now appears likely to be finished by mid-February. Another news release is planned to be released at that time.
