Bellevue police are investigating two robberies that occurred within 25 hours of each other.

In both of the cases, women were robbed near their homes by an identified man. Police have not determined if the two cases are related. Descriptions of the potential suspect differ in the two robberies, but the timing and proximity leave open the possibility that the same man committed both crimes, police said.

The first case occurred March 9 at 10:10 p.m., when police say a woman and her child entered the garage of their home on the 5300 block of 134th Avenue Southeast. A man followed them through the door and then took the woman’s purse while pointing a handgun at her.

The woman’s purse was a black and white canvas shoulder bag.

The suspect in the case is described as a 45-year-old black male with brown black hair, brown eyes, wearing a black beret, dark sweater, black leather jacket and dark pants.

The second robbery occurred at 11:20 p.m. at the 4600 block of 158th Avenue Southeast. A woman was parked in front of her home, when she was approached by an armed man. He took her purse and ran off.

The robber is described as a man in his 20’s with a shaved head, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds, with a muscular build and wearing a black puffy jacket.
