The King County Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday charged a Puesta del Sol preschool teacher’s assistant with communication with a minor for immoral purposes, following several incidences in which he allegedly insisted upon checking a 5-year-old girl’s backside when she finished using the restroom.

According to court documents, George Garrido, 29, of Renton admitted to police in March he twice checked a 5-year-old student’s bottom for cleanliness after she finished using the restroom, pulling down her pants and underwear and having her lean forward inside a closed stall. The child told a Bellevue detective she did not like being checked by Garrido, and did not report inappropriate touching of her private area, according to court documents. She first notified her mother that “Mr. George” was allegedly checking her wiping, reporting three such occasions when this happened.

Puesta del Sol trains staff that a bathroom door must be left open when assisting students and help is to be provided verbally from the doorway. If a teacher must enter the bathroom, they are required to inform the classroom teacher and wear gloves, according to court documents.

The lead teacher for the classroom reported to police she also once found Garrido in the girls bathroom with another student – age 4 — allegedly wiping the inside of her thigh while her pants and underwear were pulled down. A police report states the parents of the second student did not wish to assist with the investigation.

Garrido was booked into the King County Jail on Wednesday and bail was set at $40,000. He is scheduled for arraignment on June 18.
