Medina Police received reports of at least five vehicles which were prowled overnight April 5 in the area of the 2800 block to the 3200 block of Evergreen Point Road. In all of these cases, the victim vehicles were left unlocked.
In addition, a vehicle parked in a driveway in the 3200 block of Evergreen Point Road was stolen sometime during the night. The vehicle was left unlocked with the keys inside.
In a fortunate chain of events, the Kirkland Police Department stopped a vehicle and arrested the driver for DUI later that night. The vehicle was impounded and the driver was processed and released.
After receiving the report of the stolen vehicle, investigation revealed this impounded vehicle was the same vehicle that had been stolen from Medina. Property taken from several of the prowls was recovered, and the officers have confirmed the identity of the suspect.
