PTSA council gets extra money for scholarships

The Bellevue PTSA Council will award a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from a Bellevue school this year. The council recently received $11,000 from the Bellevue Parks Yes! campaign and hopes to build the fund through continued donations, with the hopes of being able to give out a scholarship to a senior from each of the Bellevue high schools.

The council now gives two scholarships, the Mike Riley and the Alice Hurd Memorial Scholarships.

This year Council will have $13,000 available in scholarships to seniors wanting to continue their educations after graduation.

The PTSA council received the donation at the Nov. 9 Bellevue City Council meeting from Merle Keeney, Chair of the Parks and Community Services Board.
