Congressman Dave Reichert (WA-08) has announced an arts competition to recognize and encourage creative talent among high school students.
The 2010 Congressional Art Competition, called “An Artistic Discovery,” is open to interested high school students residing in Washington State’s Eighth Congressional District.
“Last year’s competition brought so many interesting and unique projects, and I’m excited to see what’s in store for this year’s projects,” Reichert said. “This competition not only showcases the talents of our students, but also highlights an important aspect of education, to promote and develop creativity in our schools. I encourage all students to get involved.”
Each spring, a nationwide high school arts competition is sponsored by each Member of the U.S. House of Representatives, with the winning artwork from each district displayed in the Cannon Tunnel in the U.S. Capitol for one year.
Interested students can find full, detailed guidelines for the competition on Congressman Reichert’s
website. Submissions must be received by April 16.
