Republican Rep. Dave Reichert, whose 8th District includes Bellevue, has been named to the U.S. House’s Ways and Means committee.

Reichert was re-elected in November for his third term in Congress.

Reichert, a supporter of free trade, said that he will continue to push for such agreements.

Another representative from the state, Democratic Rep. Jim McDermott of Seattle, also is on the committee, which is considered one of the most influential in Congress. The committee has jurisdiction over key economic issues, including trade and taxes.
