Following heavy rain and resulting flooding in Bellevue over the weekend, residents and businesses officials ask that residents report issues to Bellevue’s Office of Emergency Management.


For homeowners and businesses to gain eligibility for federal disaster assistance, the city must collect information on the extent of uninsured damages to private property and report it to state emergency management officials. Businesses may be eligible for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s economic injury programs based on a loss of sales or an increase in expenses due to the flooding.

Residents and businesses in Bellevue with damages to report should call the Office of Emergency Management at 425-452-6807, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. Reports should come in by 4:30 p.m. Dec. 21.

Callers should have the following information available:

• Name and address of affected property

• Type of insurance and deductible amount

• Description of damage, even if uninsured

• Personal estimate of uninsured losses

• Estimated fair-market value of damaged home or business.

It is not necessary at this point for property owners to have a contractor’s estimate. Businesses that have suffered an economic injury, will be given additional details on information that is needed when they call.

Findings from this assessment could aid the Governor in requesting a disaster declaration and federal assistance from the President.
