The Eastside has great activities for families happening this week. Here are a few ideas to jot on your family calendar.
Rock Out with the Not-Its
One of our favorite local bands is The Not-Its, with their awesome kid-rock, pink tutus and pink ties. They are going to be showing up a lot this summer, but fortunately you don’t have to wait. They will be performing this Saturday at the SammamishLibrary and you can be sure there will be a bopping crowd of kids dancing along. Tickets aren’t required, but this will fill up fast, so arrive early. It all happens at 11 a.m. and again at 1 p.m.
When: Saturday, May 21, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Where: Sammamish Library, 825 228th Ave. S.E., Sammamish

Connect Kirkland ‘Treasure Hunt’ Walk
Get to know the City of Kirkland by taking a “treasure-hunt” style walk (or run – up to you) through the neighborhood. If you have never tried orienteering before, this is a great event to start with because it is designed for beginners. You will get a map with a list of walkable checkpoints around Kirkland. Then, using your map and a compass (you can borrow one if you don’t have one), figure out your route and stop by each checkpoint. When you are done, head back and compare notes with the other orienteerers. The Cascade Orienteering Club is hosting the event.
When: Sunday, May 22, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Meet at South Kirkland Park & Ride, 10610 N.E. 38th Place, Kirkland
