Sammamish High School teacher Elayne Grueber will be honored by Symetra and the Seattle Seahawks during the Seahawk game today for educational excellence in the Symetra Heroes in the Classroom program.
Grueber is a physics and engineering teacher who last school year had her students design and constructe a large scale cardboard bridge. When finished, the bridge spanned 18 ft, 4 ft wide and 8 ft tall.
The project started with a challenge from Grueber to improve an existing design that held 688 pounds. The class tested their bridge and it exceeded 2,300 lbs.
Students in her engineering class nominated her for the award.
