Science Infinity Club took fourth place at the National Science Bowl middle school competition, held in Washington, D.C. from April 24 to Monday, April 28.
The Bellevue-based club, with students from around western Washington and the Pacific Northwest, beat Hopkins Junior High to make it to the semifinals, before taking a loss to Takoma Park Middle School. The Greater Boston Science & Math Team were the ultimate victors.
The Science Infinity competitors were Sagarika Samavedi of Odle Middle School, Dhruvik Parikh of Gateway Middle School in Everett, Neha Nagvekar of Redmond Middle School, Rahul Chaliparambil of Chief Kanim Middle School in Redmond and Veenadhari Kollipara of Highland Middle School. Their coach was Renuka Vallarapu.
The National Science Bowl is a “game show” quiz competition challenging students to train themselves for rapid recall of facts across a broad spectrum of scientific disciplines. The competition is hosted by the United States Department of Energy.
