Rep. Tana Senn, D-Mercer Island, has been elected to serve on several influential committees including Appropriations and the Early Learning & Human Services. Additionally, she was named vice-chair of the General Government and Information Technology Committee.
Senn represents the 41st Legislative District, which includes the southern portion of Bellevue.
“I am humbled by the faith my peers have placed in me to play such an important role in shaping our state’s budget this session,” Senn said. “While I do see many tough choices ahead in regards to education, mental health, and transportation funding, I also see a year ripe with opportunities to set our state on a path of continued economic recovery and growth for all. I’m looking forward to a very productive session with my colleagues.”
Senn will be following her passion for early childhood education while on the Early Learning & Human Services Committee. “We must continue to find investment opportunities in early learning,” Senn said. “As we talk about educational outcomes for kids, the data show the return on this investment is too great to ignore.”
The General Government & Information Technology Committee will consider issues relating to the funding of state government operations, including corrections, parks and information technology, totaling upwards of $5 billion.
“Being named vice-chair of the General Government & Information Technology Committee will provide me with the opportunity to dive into the nitty gritty of our state government, allowing me to assist in making the tough choices necessary to steward our state to a fair and balanced budget that works for all of Washington,” said Senn.
