Feb. 23
Sidewalk slugger: The victim was waiting at the crosswalk on the corner of Northeast 20th Street and 140th Avenue Northeast for the walk signal, and was approached by an unknown male who mumbled something then punched her in the arm with his fist. The suspect fled on foot and not located. He was described as 5’11,” bald, with a medium build and in his 50s.
Fiery fight: A homeless couple got into a verbal argument that escalated. The female would not allow the male into her car, so he started to damage the vehicle and then set a fire right next to it while she was still inside. The man then fled the scene on foot and has not been found. The woman was not injured and the vehicle was not damaged from the fire.
Feb. 24
Blowing a gasket: The manager at the Chevron Gas Station called stating a man was pulling gas hoses out, hitting people’s car windows with the hoses and yelling loudly. The suspect initially did not want to comply, but after the prospect of being tasered, he changed his mind. On the way to Overlake Medical Center, the suspect made numerous statements about wanting to kill non-white people and other threats.
The Bellevue Police Motorcycle Unit conducted their monthly training and the Seattle Police Motorcycle Unit joined in.
Feb. 25
Insta-regret: The 21-year-old victim reported that in response to an Instagram request from an unknown person, she mailed her debit card and account information to an address in Chicago. The recipients began depositing bogus checks into the account, but were unable to make any withdrawals before the bank recognized the irregularities.
Bike patrol bust: Two officers who are part of the bike patrol were passing through the Transit Center and contacted the suspect because he had brand-new merchandise laid out all around him. The suspect claimed the items were gifts, but it appeared to be stolen merchandise. The suspect was found to have an outstanding theft warrant and was arrested.
Feb. 27
Shake it off: An officer contacted a man in the parking lot of the Downtown Library as she was doing regular checks of the lot for overnight visitors. The suspect was dancing in the lot to music that was playing from a nearby vehicle. He had just left the winter shelter and was waiting for the library to open so that he could use it as his day shelter. He was arrested for a non-extraditable warrant from Olympia.
Feb. 28
Binge gone bad: A man was laying next to the creek near 140th Avenue and Bel-Red Road and officers first thought that he was deceased. The fire department responded and transported the subject (who had a $25,000 warrant out of North Bend) to Overlake Hospital. The subject had gone on a binge and been out in the elements all night. Within an hour or two at the hospital, the man came to and tried to leave against medical advice. The King County Sheriff’s Office would not confirm the warrant so he was eventually released.
